This week I am attending Peoplesoft Application Server Installation and Administration training in Tampa. We are in Ybor City to be more specific. As the article linked indicate, it began as an area where cigars were manufactured. There are still a slew of cigar stores here. The rest of the area is primarily bars. Even the coffee shops sell alcohol. My cousin, who lives here, calls it the ‘Bourbon Street’ of Tampa. The couple stores that I’ve seen that weren’t bars, clubs or restaurants were head shops and a couple tattoo parlors. We pretty much have stuck close to our hotel at night. It’s not a bad area, but it’s the kind of place where trouble wouldn’t be too hard to find with minimal to no effort. The kind of place my shipmates back in my Navy days would have loved.
