Python 3.0 is out. It is different from the 2.x versions of Python and not backward compatible. There are a lot of good decisions and changes reflected in this version of what is a great scripting language.

As someone who used to make a living cranking out VB 6 apps, I found this write-up on the decline of Visual Basic to be pretty interesting.
To be honest, I’m not too interested in working with MS tools any more. Too much that tries to lock people into their eco-system and not let them move outside those boundaries. I’m too used to having the freedom to do what I want with my tools and my efforts. I don’t see that changing either. I don’t see us going back to the MS only world that was so dominant for so long. But now I’m ranting about something totally different than what this is about. VB – are the golden days behind it? I think it is safe to say yes.
Very nice summary of some very nice new features coming with Netbeans 6.5. I just love Netbeans and it just keeps on getting better. I’m thinking anyone who depends upon selling an ide for their business, may need to be really thinking of a new way to make money.
